Because of Austin the Stewarts have been made aware of the tremendous numbers of families that need help, both financially and spiritually. They decided that they could help. With this in mind, it just seemed that one door opened up and then another and here we are with THIS!! T.H.I.S. Cares is an organization set up to help equine families in times of need. THIS stands for This Horse Is Silent. We lend a helping hand to the family and address their specific needs and then we silently leave.

Larry Stewart, co-founder of T.H.I.S. Cares, a native Memphian who moved to Collierville in the 1970s and his wife, native Georgian Joanna Stewart, who came here in 1986 started T.H.I.S. Cares in 2001. The Stewarts, owners of Grass Masters make their living in Collierville and are members of Collierville Christian Church.

We've seen them all over town - at Baskin Robbins, at McAllisters, TCBY, and now six are at Wal Mart. These are canisters full of change and dollar bills. These are canisters with the angel like faces of Austin, Hunter, John Christian, and now Mikenzi The now familiar donations canisters originated with 38 paint cans given by Sherwin Williams. Larry and Joanna knew the compassion of the people of Collierville would get them started on their mission to help Austin and his family.

T.H.I.S. Cares is a unique organization with which so many Collierville residents have become familiar. Parents look at the photos and then look at their own children and think "there go I but for the grace of God" and then they give. Children read Austin's, Hunter's, John Christian's, and Mikenzi's stories and are moved to give.

Larry and Joanna, two special people, cried with their friends and became determined to give. Because of the commitment, the compassion, and the generosity of the donors and sponsors - T.H.I.S. Cares is helping families whose lives have been turned upside down by illness and fear and financial crisis. The emotional connection the people of Collierville make with the photographs of these precious children drives them to donate and the emotional connection the Stewarts have made with the children and their families compels them to pursue in the hope of in some way alleviating some of their suffering.
