MISCHA

In Loving Memory
Mischa
12/26/85-6/16/2005

If God needed an angel to teach him to ride a horse, he got her on June 16, 2005. Mischa was a vibrant young teenager who enjoyed dancing, talking on the phone, and hanging out with friends. But what sets Mischa apart from the rest of the world is that since she was just a tiny five month old baby, she has battled Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a defective gene that causes the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. After a battle with pneumonia, that left her on oxygen, and awaiting a lung transplant she never received, Mischa said goodbye to this world to go to the big ranch in the sky.

Mischa never took things in life for granted like most, because with every breath she took, it was a miracle. Mischa will no longer be with us, in body at our trail rides, or competitions, but she will always be there in spirit and in our hearts. Mischa has left a lasting impact on her family, friends, and those associated with This Horse is Silent Cares.

Just ask Austin, Brooklyn, Clay, Dylan, Hunter, and Troy how This Horse is Silent Cares (THIS Cares) helped their families and they will tell you, they kept a roof over my head and food on my table so my mother and father could take care of me while I was sick. Most parents are not able to leave a job for a period of time and still maintain a stable quality of life, but This Horse is Silent Cares helps to ease that pain. In 2001, Larry and Joanna Stewart put together a nonprofit organization to help a family friend and it has taken flight from there. This Horse is Silent Cares provides reassurance to equine families that they will be taken care of in their time of need. This Horse is Silent Cares relies strictly on donations and money raised to help these families and numerous other families. Our resources are from trail rides held annually, canisters at local stores, and donations.

If you are interested in making a donation or would like more information on the organization you can contact Larry Stewart or Chuck Brooks. Donations can also be made at any Bancorp South. The next two events planned for the organization are a one day trail ride at Eddie McCrary Stables in Lebanon, TN on August 20, 2005 and the Third Annual Trail Ride at Natchez Trace state park on September 14-18, 2005.
