Troy was the victim of a brutal assault. He was left with severe injuries, including swelling of the brain and brain damage. Troy's brain hemorrhages have healed and his eyes are open. Troy "woke-up", but his function is very limited.

Troy's family has been at his side since the incident. His mother has been unable to work while providing care for Troy. His family did not have medical insurance at the time of the accident.
